We study that we may grow in the knowledge of the Lord.
It is of utmost importance that the serious believer becomes a student of Scripture. All throughout the bible it is made known that God does not like ignorance. It is stated that a lack of knowledge can bring a person into destruction as knowledge forms the basis by which understanding empowers the person who wants to grow.

We study so that we may guard against Deception.
In a world that is bombarded by the schemes of the wicked one, the only inoculation one can have to prevent themselves from being lured by these wicked devices of deception is by being so familiar with Truth that their minds will be girded with the fidelity needed to stand against and be protected from the father of lies.

We study so that we will be acquainted with Truth.

Jesus states that as you know the truth it brings you into freedom. The student of the Bible must become acquainted with Truth for it is that Truth that becomes his nature, his 'modus operandi" both to live and to worship. It is the standard by which the true believer functions and operates from .
We study so that we may be effective in our worship.

Worship is often misconstrued as singing songs or attending a "Worship" Service, clearly these may be nice activities but Jesus was clear when He spoke to the Samaritan Woman as He told her that Worship must be done in Spirit and in Truth. Being genuine before the Lord involves one living a life on the foundation of seeing Him as True which can only be seen as such as one internalizes the Truth of His Words.

We study so that we may thoroughly furnished

What is interesting about possessing the word and studying it is that the more knowledge and understanding one gains as a result of Study , the more likely it is to have an impact in your daily living to the point that varying dimensions of your very character becomes in line with the Father's furnishing you as a whole person . This sets studying the Scriptures apart from every other subject area.
We study so that we can walk in righteousness
Studying the scripture opens up a moral code for living that allows that individual freedom to walk in accordance in continual Dependance on the Lord for their every step. Righteousness becomes the ultimate goal for internalising the Truth of Scripture
