Celebrating Passover: A Reflection on the Significance of Remembering Christ

In our journey of faith, embracing the feasts of the LORD that hold profound spiritual meaning allows us to connect more deeply with the roots of our beliefs. One such timeless feast is Passover, a feast celebrated for centuries by the early church community and one that holds immense relevance for His people today.

Understanding Passover: A Brief Overview

Passover is a  feast of the LORD commemorating the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. As priests, we recognize the deeper spiritual significance of this feast, understanding that it foreshadowed the ultimate liberation from the slavery of sin through the sacrifice of Christ.

 1. Symbolism of the Lamb:
Passover involves the sacrifice of a lamb, symbolizing Christ, the Lamb of God, whose blood was shed for our redemption.

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us." (1 Corinthians 5:7)

 2. The Blood of the Covenant:
Passover underscores the importance of the blood applied to the doorposts, signifying protection and salvation.

"And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it." (Exodus 12:7)

 3. Freedom from Bondage:
Passover commemorates the Israelites' liberation, mirroring our freedom from the bondage of sin through Christ's sacrifice.

"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." (Galatians 5:1)

 4. A Time of Remembrance:
Celebrating Passover becomes an act of remembrance, acknowledging the great sacrifice that paved the way for our eternal freedom.

"And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me." (Luke 22:19)

 5. Unity in Communion:
The communal aspect of Passover emphasizes unity in fellowship, a reminder of the shared experience of God's deliverance.

"For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread." (1 Corinthians 10:17)

 6. **Proclaiming the Lord's Death:
Celebrating Passover is a tangible way of proclaiming the Lord's death until He comes again.

"For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come." (1 Corinthians 11:26)

Conclusion:

As we engage in the observance of Passover, let us do so with hearts full of gratitude for the redemption secured for us through Christ. This ancient feast serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring relevance of our faith and the eternal significance of Christ's sacrifice.

In commemorating Passover, we not only honor our biblical heritage but also strengthen our connection with the foundational events that paved the way for our salvation. May this celebration deepen our understanding of God's redemptive plan and inspire a renewed commitment to walk in the freedom purchased for us by the precious blood of Christ.
